Speaking Being

This really has been my go-to book now for the last few months. If you Are an individual who appreciates the work of Werner Erhard then this is a must have book. For those of you who do not know who Werner Erhard is, he is the originator of the Landmark Forum. If you have never taken any of landmarks courses I would highly recommend you consider them.

That being said the book speaking being would be very difficult to understand for individuals who are not familiar with the work of the Landmark Forum. The book takes you on a 3 1/2 day journey of participants in the Forum.

It also examines the work of the Landmark Forum through the work of Martin Heidegger. Martin Heidegger has been considered one of the foremost psychologists of the 20th century.

For those of us who have experienced the forum, I would liken reading this book to like reliving a small portion of the Forum everyday. I have read this publication twice already and I am looking forward to reading it a 3rd time. I'm currently at the end of the book where Erhard makes the assertion that we are our feelings.

We say that we have feelings, but if you look closely we do not have feelings, feelings have us. We cannot say we love someone if we do not feel love. We cannot say we love someone absent of the feeling and be sincere.

This is not the truth but it is the way we live our lives. Werner suggest a higher calling. He suggests that we allow our words along with our integrity to our word to have the final say. In this we can say I love you without the feeling and yet be a stand for the love that we say.

It reminds me of what the Bible says about God loving the world. A world that stands apart from God and in some cases in opposition to him. And yet God loves because he says so apart from any feeling. It doesn't mean that the feeling love is not there. However love is there regardless of whether the feeling is or not. It takes a lot of courage to live our lives this way.

The is just a small piece, a couple of pages, that have become available out of my reading this book. Can you imagine what the world would be like if we learned to love people when the feeling was not there?

I hope you take the time to experience the power of the Landmark Forum when it is available to you. For me, I would have to say, it is the best money I have ever spent!!!!
